We are looking for a Veteran Connect Adviser to join our team. You will be key member of our Veteran Connect project team, helping to develop and implement it to reach Armed Forces veterans and their families who need our support. Reporting to the Advice Services Manager, you will also build and maintain relationships with key partners and stakeholders.
This is a fixed term contract role for 12 months with possible extension dependent on funding. It is 37.5 hours per week and the salary is £26,700 per annum.
Based in our Stowmarket office, the role will require extensive travel across Mid Suffolk for which own transport will be required. Mileage will be reimbursed at HMRC rates. We are looking for the successful candidate to start as soon as possible.
Your responsibilities
- Provide casework covering the full range of advice areas and make home and outreach visits as necessary.
- Assist clients where necessary by calculating, negotiating, drafting or writing letter and telephoning.
- Assist clients with other related problems where they are an integral part of their case and refer to other advisers or specialist agencies as appropriate.
- Maintain case records for the purposes of continuity of casework, information retrieval, statistical monitoring and report preparation.
- Collect evidence on client outcomes.
- Ensure that all casework conforms to the organisations Office Manual and the Advice Quality Standard.
- Establish a armed forces Veteran support service in Mid Suffolk.
- Provide accessible support through in-person visits, telephone, and online.
- Deliver a client journey with positive outcomes.
- Increase awareness of welfare benefits and support applications.
- Provide access to quality-assured-advice with specialist in house support for debt, energy, benefits and employment.
- Connect veterans with mental health/physical health services/peer support.
- Help veterans transition into civilian employment.
- Advocate for improved transport links and other rural-specific issues.
- Improve the co-ordination of services for Armed Forces veterans and their families.
- Assist with research and campaigns work by providing information about clients’ circumstances and the armed forces veteran community within Mid Suffolk.
- Provide statistical information on the number of clients and nature of cases and provide regular reports to the organisation’s management.
You will need
- Strong administration skills and attention to detail. Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
- Experience of presenting data to different audiences to make an impact.
- Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
