HRH The Princess Royal, Patron of National Citizens Advice visited the new Citizens Advice Mid Suffolk offices in Stowmarket this afternoon, and following a tour, offically opened the New Advice Centre in the presence of invited guests and local dignitaries. As she unvield a plaque to commemorate the opening HRH The Princess Royal said: “It’s a huge encouragement to see investement in Citizens Advice Bureaus.”
During her visit she met volunteers, trustees and staff at Citizens Advice Mid Suffolk and heard from clients that had received employment and welfare benefits advice. The organisation relies on their 45 volunteers to deliver free, confidential and impartial advice and it was a great opprtunity to thank them for their hard work and dedication.
Citizens Advice Mid Suffolk Bureau Manager, Carol Eagles said: “We are very fortunate to have HRH The Princess Royal as our National Patron and delighted to have been able to welcome her in person to our new offices.”
Mrs Eagles continued “We are very grateful to our landlord, Stowmarket Town Council and our funders for enabling our offices to be extended and refurbished. We now have more than double the space we had before, including four ground floor interview rooms, an accessible entrance and an improved working environment for our staff and volunteers.”
Citizens Advice Mid Suffolk has been providing free face-to-face advice from its offices in Stowmarket for 35 years, and last year helped to resolve over 7,000 issues for the residents and workers of Mid Suffolk.
